The entrance is at the rear of the building, a few yards up Peggy Hill. There are six steep steps up to it, with a handrail.
There is a large entrance hall with plenty of room for hanging coats and storing boots.
Off the hall there is a small extra room, which many of our guests use for storing boots, rucksacks, etc.
There are two drying racks and a fan heater to enable you to dry your clothes.
Newly refitted and redecorated
The living room is a half-flight of stairs up from the entrance hall, facing south with two large sash windows (recently renovated). It is large, warm and comfortable. Several of our guests have commented that our photographs do not do justice to its position and spaciousness.
It has a view over the ravine of Stock Ghyll to the Market Cross, and you can watch the town's comings and goings from it, or look over the roofs to Loughrigg.
The kitchen is off the living room. It is convenient and well-equipped, including
A clean drying-up cloth and "J" cloth are provided. There is often washing-up liquid, etc, left by previous guests. You can buy anything missing from Spar, the Coop or Tesco within 5 minutes walk.
The bathroom is a half-flight of stairs up from the living room. It has a full-length bath with a thermostatic shower over it, and plenty of hot water, with WC and washbasin.
|King-sized bed and plenty of storage|
|Two 3' single beds with hanging cupboard|
Above Stock is in the centre of Ambleside, convenient for the shops and restaurants, and overlooking Stock Ghyll High Bridge.
Spar, the Coop and Tesco are all open 7 days a week and within 5 minutes walk. Walk down past the Rattle Ghyll Cafe to get to Spar and the Coop in Compston Road, or past the Tourist Information Centre and the Salutation Hotel to get to Tesco, opposite the White Lion.
There is a bus stop outside the Salutation Hotel, but the main bus station is opposite the library - walk along Lake Road and turn right down Kelsick Road. The closest bus stop for Grasmere and Keswick is in Rydal Road past the main car park, opposite the Health Centre.
The closest train station is at Windermere, about 4 miles from Ambleside, just by the bus station. There are frequent bus services, or a taxi fare was about £15 for the journey at the time of writing.
Central heating - full gas-fired central heating, controllable by the guests.
We can arrange for a cot and a high chair for a baby on request.
Many of the pictures around the apartment are paintings by Jennifer, and are for sale. Please contact us if you are interested in buying one
Sorry, there are no facilities for pets or smokers.
