Above Stock Accessibility

We welcome everyone who can enjoy it, but Above Stock is built on a rock outcrop, with steps up to the entrance. This limits our ability to help people with accessibility difficulties.

Mobility

To reach the entrance to Above Stock you walk a few yards up the smooth tarmac slope of Peggy Hill and then up six steep steps with a handrail. Once you are inside there are stairs with bannisters between the entrance area, the living room, the bathroom and the bedrooms. The accommodation will only be suitable for you if you can manage the steps and stairs.

Visual Impairment

Outside, the light comes on automatically at night when you approach the entrance steps. So if you have a moderate level of visual handicap you are helped to see the steps when going up or down them.

Internally, the accommodation has not been designed for visually impaired people, but there are no special hazards. We once had a severely visually handicapped friend to stay with us there, and she was able to find her way around inside once she had been shown the layout.
